OAK CLIFF BREWING COMPANY

A 10,000 sf metal warehouse in an industrial area converted into a microbrewery and a tap room that serves the public. The tap room was an important piece of the program as it would provide additional revenue for the startup brewery.  Due to the high cost of brewing equipment a minimal budget remained for architecture, requiring a cost effective solution that would make the brewery and tap room a welcoming place for patrons. The large pecan tree on the site serves as the catalyst for the design solution, becoming the focal point of a beer garden and the tap room.  Recycled wood pieces define public and private areas of the brewery and are a unifying element of the indoor and outdoor spaces. Inside, a bar clad in recycled wood separates the tap room from brewing operations. Outside,  wooden pallets, used extensively in brewing operations, encircle the tree creating a shady oasis under the pecan canopy.
